The Liver Flush Diet
The liver flush is a five day detox diet that begins the process of flushing out toxins and accumulated waste from the liver and gall bladder. It is just like doing a simple five day diet with the added benefit of a liver cleanse. Besides shedding some water weight you will also detoxify your body and regain your vital energy in the process.
The Liver Flush 5 Day Detox Diet:
From SUNDAY breakfast through FRIDAY lunch: - Eat a light, healthy diet consisting mainly of fruits and vegetables for the duration of this program. In addition to 64 ounces of pure water, drink at least one quart of apple juice or apple cider a day (preferably organic). Why? This much apple will soften the sludge that can build up in the gall bladder. The job of the gall bladder is to emulsify fats, but when it is backed up with waste matter and sludge it will not do its job, contributing to gas, bloating, GI tract discomfort, heartburn, etc.
Avoid fried and fatty foods like French fries or fast foods 3 hours after Friday lunch: - Dissolve 3 teaspoons of Epsom salts or disodium phosphate into an ounce of hot water and drink it down. You may chase that down with grapefruit juice as it is very salty. Eat nothing else for the rest of the day Friday.
2 hours later on Friday: - Repeat the Epsom salts/disodium phosphate drink. Drink plenty of water. The drinks are very salty but they do clear a pathway for bile and sludge to pass through without getting stuck anywhere. It's a good idea to drink grapefruit or lemon juice at this time, because it helps to alkalinize the body (detoxifying can cause a temporarily acidic condition in the body and this will balance that effect). If you cannot drink citrus fruits, you can put a half teaspoon of baking soda into a glass of your drinking water. Or you can find alkalinizing products at your health food store, like Glyco-Thymoline.
Before going to bed Friday night mix a half cup of unrefined olive oil with a little lemon or grapefruit juice and drink it down (I know, I know ...) If this makes you feel queasy have a few sips of Coke to settle your stomach. Last step, hooray! When you go to bed lie on your right side with your right knee pulled up to your chest for a half hour. This helps the processing of oils via the stomach so that the gall bladder will be prepared to receive them.
When you put your leg down again after the half hour, the gall bladder will have a little tension squirt of bile through it, and you may feel this - some people have reported that they do feel a tugging sensation in that area. Then, go to sleep! By then, you will want to! First thing next morning (Saturday), dissolve two teaspoons of Epsom salts in two ounces of hot water, add a bit of lemon or grapefruit juice. Drink this and eat nothing for about two hours afterward. The purging action of this will get the sludge out that was released last night from the gall bladder.
When can I do the liver flush?
This cleanse is best accomplished when you are not extremely active, making plans or socializing! You will want access to a bathroom and you may feel like not doing much at all. Sometimes cleanses are accompanied by headaches and light headedness. This is part of the cleansing process (headaches most often relate to the liver function and you are giving that function a major push as well as major support). The temporary discomforts are greatly outweighed by the long-term benefits you are giving your body by removing the built-up intestinal sludge and junk which contribute to intestinal toxemia.
Lose weight and feel great on the 10 Day Master Cleanse Diet. Can't spare ten days? No problem! You can tailor the diet to meet your own needs. Try the Master Cleanse for just three, five or seven days to determine what's best for you.
